Pioneer Announces New Entry-Level Loudspeaker Series
As more mainstream consumers discover the pleasures of home theater, the demand for more affordable loudspeakers, that still deliver good quality sound, have definitely increased. As a result, Pioneer has announced a new series of loudspeakers that it hopes will capture consumers' attention and pocket books.

The new series features two bookshelf speaker models (SP-BS21-LR and SP-BS41-LR), a floorstanding model (SP-F5S512), the (SP-C21) center channel speaker, and the SW-8 powered subwoofer.

The SP-BS21-LRfeatures a two-way bass reflex design with a 4-inch woofer/midrange driver and 1-inch soft dome tweeter, and is priced at $79.99 each.

The SP-BS41-LRfeatures a two-way bass reflex design with a 5 1/4-inch woofer/midrange driver, 1-inch soft dome tweeter, and is priced at $199.99 each.

The SP-F5S512floor standing model features a 2.5-way bass reflex design with three 5 1/4-inch woofer/midrange drivers, 1 inch soft dome tweeter, and is also priced at $199 each.

Next up is the SP-C21Center Channel speaker. This speaker is a horizontal 2-way reflex design with two 5 1/4-inch woofer/midrange driver, 1-inch soft dome tweeter, and is priced at a very modest $79.99.

To round the new speaker line out is the SW-8powered subwoofer. This sub features an 8-inch driver with an added front-facing port for increased low frequency extension. The SW-8 has an onboard amplifier with a maximum 100-watt output, and is priced at $149.

Home Theater Term of the Week - DVD
DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc. DVDs can be used for storing video, audio, still image, or computer data. Many people refer to DVD as a Digital Video Disc, however, technically, this is not correct.
